Scammers exploit Meta platforms with illegal drug and alcohol ads
This investigation by Dismislab uncovered at least 37 Facebook pages brazenly selling illicit drugs, with 30 of them running ads on Facebook, Instagram and Messenger. Despite the company’s stated policies against advertising of unsafe substances and alcohol in Bangladesh, its moderation system is failing to enforce these rules.
Hidden in plain sight, adult ads are flooding social media
In just one week from January 29 and February 4, 2025, Dismislab found 322 active advertisements targeting Bangladeshi users that violate Meta’s ads standards on sexual solicitation and sexually explicit language, adult products or services, and adult nudity and sexual activity.
