From Facebook ads to WhatsApp groups: the trap of stock market investment fraud
Dismislab investigation uncovered a multi-platform stock market scam that lures investors from Facebook ads into WhatsApp groups posing as top brokerage firms. Victims are then directed to fake apps and websites and instructed to transfer money via bank accounts or mobile financial services such as bKash and Nagad. By bypassing legitimate brokerage accounts, the fraudsters funnel the money directly into their own pockets.

A Dismislab study found 62 Facebook posts with edited images, fake media cards, and AI-generated content, shared nearly 30,000 times and viewed over 7 million—reflecting broader harassment of women in Bangladeshi politics.
